it’s thursday, december 29, & moon is in pisces, in the starspace called uttarabhadra. pisces vibrates with the frequency of oneness with all that is, not just everyone that is globally, like humanity-oriented aquarius, but everything that is galactically, universally, cosmically. “i was no longer needing to be special, b/c i was no longer so caught in my puny separateness that i had to keep proving i was something,” said ram dass. “i was part of the universe, like a tree is, or like grass is, or like water is.” or, i would add, like the stars & other astronomical objects. under the sway of pisces we grok that “we are stardust / billion-year-old carbon / we are golden.” & thus “we” has to mean all that was birthed when the universe was almost fourteen billion years ago (fact-checking joni!) during the cosmological event known as the big bang.
uttarabhadra picks up where yesterday’s purvabhadra left off. whereas purva gave us a glimpse of the true nature of reality, of our reality, uttara encourages us to do something about it, apply that inspiration/insight in a practical way. this asterism gives us the wisdom of perspective & reminds us that wisdom without action will just sour, is as useless as homemade almond mylk left too long in the fridge.
it’s the eighth lunar day, the eighth phase of the waxing moon, which is the halfway point in the lunar cycle, when the moon is balanced between darkness & light, chaos & order, creation & destruction. it is said that saturn, the dispenser of justice, was born on this tithi (lunar phase). if inner conflicts arise within you as a result of the clashing of opposite forces (oi, i can already feel it bubbling to the surface!), tap into your inner saturn to rule judiciously.
thursday is owned by jupiter, who connects us to our higher self &, if we do our practices, allows us to reside there. as yoga sutra 1.3 says, tada drashtuh svarupe vasthanam, “then, [when the mental activities re properly restrained] the seer abides in its own form.” our higher self is the part of us that takes responsibility to create a different reality, that perceives abundance rather than lack & lessons rather than mistakes, that is grateful grateful grateful. go high today!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
