the daily blissit’s sunday, december 29, & moon is in the starspace called dhanishtha, which occupies a sky-slice that straddles capricorn & aquarius, creating a cosmic bridge between those two saturn-ruled constellations. the sense of responsibility for personal family & friends that saturn brings to bear in capricorn becomes a sense of responsibility for universal family & friends—for the family of humanity—in aquarius. saturn takes this responsibility seriously & has high standards, so there can be a feeling of “no matter what i do, it’s not enough.” it’s not realistic to expect to, say, end poverty in one fell swoop, but if we do a little toward our goal every day—put that fancy-coffee $ into a jar destined for our favorite charity rather than into the hands of a barista, for example—we will make inroads, we will make progress. all together now. …

the essence of dhanishtha is to be wealthy in body, mind & spirit, to understand that true wealth comes from creating value in our lives & that value has nothing to do, or doesn’t necessarily have anything to do, with money, with how much money we’ve got in the bank (or in bitcoin or whatever). the vasu devas, which are aspects of the sun, rule this nakshatra. they provide illumination, guiding us toward the spiritual, toward understanding that true wealth comes from a sparkling character, from being pure in thought, word & action. may we dwell in this light today & all shine a little brighter, all feel a little richer.

it’s the fourth phase of the waxing moon, which is related to obstacles & endings. if we can shift our perspective, an obstacle can become an opportunity—overcoming it a way to stretch ourselves that we didn’t know was possible. a lot of the time obstacles can be overcome, but not always. sometimes they’re there to tell us it’s time to take another road, that this thing is over, the end is nigh. how to know? if we can’t trust our intuition, there’s always trial & error!

sunday is owned by the sun, which shines within each & every one of us. it’s our sense of power & it’s our integrity. so today is a great good day for an integrity check, & if we diagnose something amiss a great good day to correct our alignment.

jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. i’d love to help you shine more light on your life  but i’m taking a wee break from readings to support my family. stay tuned! ~.~
