it’s friday, december 2, & moon is in pisces, in the starspace called uttarabhadra. pisces vibrates with the frequency of having had “enough of the pleasures & pains of the ordinary existence” & turning “toward our final expansion,” as chris wallis puts it. under the sway of pisces, we open to the divine & “glimpse, however briefly, the magnificence of our true nature” & “we begin to inherit our birthright.” the expansive nature of ruling planet jupiter allows us to experience our individual selves as one with the cosmic matrix, with all that is. jupiter gives us the grace to feel that each of us is both “a beautifully unique expression of the pattern of the whole” & the whole itself. the downside to piscean energy is that we can be so done with ordinary existence that we simply want to escape from it & try any means necessary to do so, means—food, sex, drugs, alcohol—that take us farther away from rather than closer to the divine. we get to ask ourselves whether we are trying to escape from the ordinary or escape into the truly extraordinary, whether our goal is to check out or to check more deeply in.

uttarabhadra is ruled by ahir bhudnya, whose name can be translated as the “serpent who lies beneath the surface of the earth” & brings a lesson about what lies beneath our own surface, what lies in the depths of our psyche. ahir bhudnya gives us the compassion & wisdom to unpack our pathologies. this deity is an emanation of shiva, who, like a serpent, consumes the poisons in the mind & sets us free.

it’s the tenth lunar day, the tenth phase of the waxing moon, which is connected to the god dharma. it’s a good day to connect to your dharma, to take your duties & responsibilities & purpose for being seriously.

friday is ruled by venus, planet of love & relationships. with venus & mars gazing at each other from each other’s signs right now (venus in scorpio, mars in taurus) & mars retrograde, we may be rethinking our relationships &/or feeling especially passionate—either way, we have planetary support. relationships take effort, but the effort doesn’t have to be arduous & should ultimately be more than worth it from a cost-benefit analysis.

“4 things make relationships easier: space to be your own person, less control, more trust, calm communication, selfless listening.”—yung pueblo
