the daily blissit’s monday, december 2, & moon is in the starspace called dhanishtha, which occupies a sky-slice that straddles capricorn & aquarius, thus harmonizing those two energies, transforming capricorn’s narrow-picture & me-my-mine centeredness into aquarius’s global & they-them-theirs outlook. in aquarius we go public with the lessons we honed in our private lives in capricorn, putting that discipline & seriousness & determination to work for more selfless purposes, with a humanitarian mind-set. how can you improve the world today?

dhanishtha means to be completely (ishtha) wealthy (dhan) & this asterism is ruled by the vasus, the deities who shed light on our lives & allow us to dwell in our shining. in vedic times (& this is, after all, vedic astrology, the vedas are its roots) a person was considered wealthy who had good character, thoughts & actions, who dwelled in their light, who stood in right relationship with their highest expression of self.

in the movie “butterfield 8,” gloria, the character played by elizabeth taylor (no adjective does justice to her, so i’ll leave her, who needs no adornment, unadorned), struggles to find her divine alignment, to fully express the goodness of her character, which plays hide & seek with her, gets lost in the shadow of booze & casual sex & is glimpsed briefly when mirrored back to her by others. it’s not until love shines its light magnificently on her life that she realizes how good she is, can be, that she realizes that she has the power to be completely wealthy, that she is whole.

if you haven’t seen the movie, you can catch it on netflix, & i’ll spare you the early-60s’ moralizing, but the takeaway is: don’t wait to let yourself shine, to shine your light on the world, to realize that you are a creature of god, of the divine. if only there was shadow work back then!

it’s the seventh phase of the waxing moon, which is related to lord indra, the king of gods but whose pride was his downfall, so do let yourself feel kingly today but know that it’s through god’s grace that you can do so—keep your ego out of it.

monday is ruled by the moon, which makes for a day of heart-centeredness & a mind influenced by our emotional nature, so a good day to practice living whole-heartedly, as liz did in “butterfield 8,” but do so consciously, intentionally, without the fog of so much scotch!

& that’s your daily bliss! jyotish, vedic astrology, is the science of light. if you want to shine more light on your life, contact me for a session! ~.~
