it’s thursday, december 30 (sorry for the scary photo!), & moon is in scorpio (oh, joy!), in the starspace called vishakha until about noon mountain time, then anuradha. scorpio vibrates with the frequency of our worst fears & paranoias crawling out of their dark hidey-holes into the light of day. it’s where we become scared of the unknown, which is really the imagined unknown, b/c the unknown, by definition, can only be imagined. it’s where anxiety overtakes rationality. anxiety lives in the place god is missing. god = goodness overcoming darkness. & did you realize that a quick flop of the letters in the word “scared” produces “sacred”? scorpio gives us an opportunity to turn our fears into wisdom, our “scared” into the “sacred,” by asking them what they have to teach us, sprinkling them with the goodness of our gratitude, & then sending them on their way.

vishakha brings the lesson that we always have choices & that we should give our all to whichever choice we make, be decisive, be single-branched (shakha means “branch”). in the bhaghavad gita (ii.41), krishna tells arjuna that those who are resolute have a single aim, but that those who are not have minds that are bahushakha, “many branched” (bahu means “many”). anuradha is ruled by mitra, the divine friend, & brings the lesson of being devoted to whom & what we love. may we be resolute in our devotion to our loved ones, be single-minded (branched!) in the sense of unwavering, with our hearts.

it’s the twelfth lunar day, the twelfth phase of the waning moon, which is associated with the sun, whose light provides clarity & which just might come in handy with a scorpio moon!

thursday is ruled by jupiter, who gives us hope & is in the sign of aquarius, the sign of humanity, these days. hope + humanity = hope for humanity. i know the past couple of years have been challenging most people’s sense of hopefulness for humanity, but i am beginning to feel the shift toward the light, toward better times coming. hope means “to desire with expectation or with belief in the possibility of obtaining.” if we can all envision what our hopes are & embody that feeling, that’s a great good way to start the new year, to bring our vision to light.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
