it’s friday, december 30, new year’s eve eve, & moon is in pisces, in the starspace called revati. pisces is symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions but joined at the head & tail. how they swim in that configuration is beside the point; the point is the tethering of opposites, the material & the spiritual, the earthly & the beyond-earthly. as the natural twelfth house of the zodiac, pisces represents completion, the completion of a cycle, & as the final house of moksha, liberation, it can mean the completion of one’s cycle of earthly beingness & the transition into the great beyond, but not necessarily. pisces also represents the dream state, which is where our consciousness swims before we wake.
with pisces representing endings & aries, where the gregorian calendar says the new year commences, representing beginnings, what perfect timing to tie up whatever needs tying up & preparing for what we want to unfurl, to reflect on the past & set intentions for the future. what do you want to dream into being in the coming year? how are you going to do that?
revati is ruled by pushan, the cosmic shepherd, who gently guides animals home, to their final destination. it doesn’t take much of a leap, given that pisces is the cosmic ocean & revati is the last asterism of the last sign of the zodiac, to infer that we’re talking about the soul & its cosmic journey. as ram dass has famously said, “we are all walking each other home.” we are all shepherds for one another.
it’s the ninth lunar day, the ninth phase of the waxing moon, which is considered rikta, or empty, & is infused with serpent energy. serpents are able to extract wisdom from toxins, so if we are experiencing a feeling of emptiness within, like an existential crisis, or negative emotions, we will be supported in extracting wisdom from the experience. all we have to do is reflect on why we might be feeling what we are feeling, what we are being asked to learn.
friday is venus’s day. venus is the planet of love, relationships & earthly delights. with venus in the friendly sign of capricorn, it’s an especially good friday to be with the ones you love (including yourself!) & do the things that delight you, that feel loving.
