it’s tuesday, december 5, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called purvaphalguni. in the environment of leo, we embrace our sovereignty, wear it like a royal mantle, b/c we are all royals—kings, queens, queengs, etc. leo is where we are each one of us our own majority, the majority of one. “whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority,” said mark twain, “it is time to pause & reflect.” interestingly, the sign opposite leo is aquarius, def the sign of the majority of many! the axis between opposite signs is the axis of harmonization, of cooperation, so we get to ask ourselves how we can be fully sovereign beings, fully autonomous, & yet integrated into the all of humanity. if we each shone as brightly as the sun (who rules leo), if we each acted like the royals we are, each played our parts full out in the orchestra of life, what a gorgeous global symphony we could create!
purvaphalguni was once described to me as the cat in the hammock, which i took to mean that it was the star of laziness & that, b/c this is where my ascendant is, meant that i was lazy, a self-criticism i was well used to. but, no, it’s where we get to take a wee time-out from the work of ruling our worlds, of doing, & enjoy what we’ve done, so we are reinspired to start doing again … but not necessarily today.
it’s the eighth lunar day (tithi), the eighth phase of the waning moon, which marks the halfway point in moon’s journey to emptiness, when moon is equally balanced between light & dark, between the forces of creation & destruction. this tithi is ruled by the eight vasus, the elemental gods of transformation, & is said to be the birth tithi of saturn, who puts a damper on things, keeps them real. so we may feel pulled in opposite directions, conflicted. we get to remember that destruction is necessary for creation, that there is no light without darkness. we get to ask ourselves how we are (or are not!) harmonizing the darkness & light within ourselves, how we are using the one to inform the other.
tuesday is ruled by mars, who is still a little too close to sun for comfort. so let’s do beware succumbing to hotheadedness.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
