it’s thursday, march 19, moon is in pisces, in the starspace called uttarabhādra, it’s the first phase of the waxing moon & jupiter’s day.

pisces is where the finite (our current, physical incarnation) meets the infinite (the everlastingness, never dyingness of our soul, our true self). as the bhagavad gita teaches (chapter 2, verse 20), “the soul is neither born, nor does it ever die; nor having once existed, does it ever cease to be. the soul is without birth, eternal, immortal, & ageless. it is not destroyed when the body is destroyed.”

pisces is where we grok our ultimate limitlessness, that we just are, always have been & will always be. which can be a lot to grok, b/c , wow, what does that even mean, how to wrap our head around that?

in one of his last interviews before his way-too-early death, poet & mystic john o’donohue quoted what nelson mandela said when he emerged, after twenty-seven years, from imprisonment: “[w]hat we are afraid of is not so much our limitations, but the infinite within us.”

pisces gives us an opportunity to experience our limitlessness, our oneness with all that is, ever was & ever will be, to drop deeply into the all-pervading ocean of consciousness—no wet suits or oxygen tanks necessary!

uttarabhādra, as i mentioned yesterday, is connected to the hidden, infinite (yes, there’s that word again!) potential that lies beneath our surface, the wisdom that lies beneath our conscious awareness, is subconscious waiting to be made conscious, a secret that wants to rise to the surface of our awareness, bear its fruit, nourish us as the rain does the earth.

what does that mean for you?

“possibility is the secret heart of time.”—john o’donohue

the first lunar day (tithi), the first phase of the waxing moon, is connected to goddess kameshwari, who represents our arising from sleep, the first stage of waking consciousness & the first rays of the sun, the ones that tickle us awake, or those of us still sleeping at sunrise (pas moi—i’ve been up for hours!). she is the first ray of the moon in the waxing cycle, the first inkling, first spark, of desire, the desire to create. just as this first sliver of moonlight is barely, if at all, perceptible, so our intention for this lunar fortnight may still be percolating beneath the surface of our consciousness, ready & waiting for the goddess to bring it to the surface. allow her to work her magic.

thursday is ruled by jupiter, whose sanskrit name is guru, the “remover of darkness,” the one who enlightens us.

“if you think of the spiritual path as the road to your true self, a teacher is someone who stands next to you, giving directions. a guru, on the other hand, is up ahead, beckoning you from the destination. the guru knows the journey is an illusion; his job is to get you to see that there is nowhere to go, that you are part of the One.”—from being ram dass

we don’t all have gurus, but we all do have or have had teachers. it’s a good day to honor all those who have got us this far on our journey & if you have already seen through the illusion of separateness, know you are part of the One, good on you!

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
