it’s monday, september 2, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha until 12:45 MDT, then purvaphalguni, where new moon occurs. leo vibrates with the frequency of our sovereignty, wants us to own our power, take center stage & project our voice to the last rows of the highest galleries of the theater, to roar like a lion. leo is ruled by the sun, who always plays a starring role in the new & full moon performances & is especially strong now in his home sign of leo.
sun encroaches on moon during the waning lunar cycle until his light totally eclipses the moon’s & they join as one. sun represents our ego, our autonomy; moon our mind, our desire to connect.
notice whether you’ve been experiencing an inner dialogue or battle between needing your own space & what your relationships need, between your autonomy & your ability to sacrifice some of it & merge.
purvaphalguni is ruled by bhaga, the god of delight, & by venus, planet of delight, & is symbolized by a bed or hammock. this asterism brings a lesson about the importance of rest, of taking a time-out, spending time doing what we love with the ones we love, of how it fuels our creativity, our productivity, rejuvenates our life force.
venus is now in virgo, its sign of debilitation, & hasn’t had an easy journey getting there over the past coupla months. which means feelings of being un- or underappreciated in our relationships, that we’re giving more than we’re getting, maybe even that what we’re getting isn’t worth the price have been at play & are climaxing.
venus is starved right now & the shadow side of purvaphalguni is overindulgence, which means we may be overusing—i.e., abusing—food or sex or shopping or binge-streaming, overconsuming venus things, to plug the hole, fill the gap, feed the hunger.
communication czar mercury, who rules virgo (& thus venus right now), is in the ashlesha portion of cancer, which might encourage us to spout toxic words. words are energy, & energy once put out into the universe lives forever.
putting this all together (& let’s not forget stern saturn, retrograde directly opposite his enemy the sun!), our moon work for the waxing cycle involves doubling down on what delights us in our relationships rather than on unhealthy behavior to compensate for any dissatisfaction we may be experiencing.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
