it’s thursday, october 16, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called maghā. while moon-ruled cancer vibrates with the frequency of the divine feminine, with feeling & receptivity, sun-ruled leo vibrates with the frequency of the divine masculine, of doing & emitting. cancer is the queen, leo the king, leader of a nation, ruler over a realm. we each rule over a realm, even if it isn’t as large as a nation. how do you rule—with humility & a sense of service or for the purpose of ego-gratification, to accrue power? just asking!
remember: we are talking frequency here, not gender; we contain multitudes, & we don’t have to name or label them.
maghā is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors, the ones we know & the ones we don’t. i mean, how many of us can build a family tree with branches comprising every single blood-relation going back centuries, let alone all the way to adam & eve?
in a new yorker article, “the family fallout of DNA surprises,” jennifer wilson dug into the consequences of digging into genealogy through DNA testing. not all results, it turns out, are happy ones: you might find out that your father isn’t whom you thought he was, that he was, say, your mom’s rave-fueled hookup once upon a time, not the man who loved & nurtured you all your life. jennifer also raised the sticky dilemma between right to know & privacy vis à vis adoptees hunting down their biological parents & vis à vis those conceived with donated sperm hunting down the donor.
is ignorance bliss? does nurture trump nature? is it best to keep pandora’s box shut tight?
i don’t have the answers, but it’s a good day to honor our ancestors, the ones we are aware of & not.
it’s the eleventh lunar day (tithi), the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which is said to be the best tithi for spiritual practices like fasting & meditation b/c the mind is its most receptive, least bizzy & buzzy. meditation is nothing more (or less!) than “just witnessing, not interfering, not even judging,” said osho, “b/c the moment you judge you have lost the pure witness. the moment you say, ‘this is good, this is bad,’ you are not witnessing.” try it—you just might like it!
thursday is ruled by wise & optimistic jupiter, who connects us to teachings & teachers, the first ones having been our parents.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
