it’s monday, may 4, moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeṣṭḥā, it’s the third phase of the waning moon & moon’s day,

scorpio is where—ready or not!—we get to plunge into the depths of our emotions, where the light may not reach & the water may be murky. watery moon in watery scorpio is debilitated, out of her depths, can feel like she’s drowning in, awash in emotion & can’t get her bearings, see the surface, but/& ruling planet mars provides the courage to swim, to explore, to feel, to let whatever arises arise & to examine, not attach to, it.

“i must be a mermaid,” wrote anaïs nin. “i have no fear of depths & a great fear of shallow living.”

get your inner mermaid on! slip on your deep-water swim fins & goggles (& maybe grab an oxygen tank)!

jyeṣṭḥā means “eldest” or “chiefmost,” as in what is highest, most mature in ourselves, & is ruled by indra, the elder, the chief among the gods, who, eventually but inevitably, learned that to rule others, to be a model for others, you first have to learn to rule yourself, be a master of yourself, transform your demons (i.e. your lowest qualities) into strengths (highest qualities).

at one point, indra had to duke it out with vritra, a serpent-dragon demon (another deep-water dweller!) who had sucked up all the earth’s water. he slayed vritra, slashing open his belly with a lightning bolt (his vajra), returning all the water to the earth.

vritra = “obstacle,” as in what restrains us, prevents our full flourishing, can be a way we self-sabotage.

this nakshatra brings powerful transformation if we can slay our demons. what do you get to slay today so you can become more self-masterful?

the third lunar day (tithi), the third phase of the waning moon, is ruled by vishnu, the preserver of all that is, & has a quality of nourishment, as in nourishing all that is, especially home & family.

do you make enough effort to sustain your relationships with love? are you strong enough to forgive or do you take things too personally? how well do you take care of your home? what needs more nourishing?

monday is ruled by all-compassionate moon. the word compassion comes from the latin com (“together”) + pati (“to bear, suffer”). moon knows that compassion comes from feeling our pain & understanding that pain isn’t unique to us, that it’s a universal experience, which enables moon to be with the pain & suffering of others.

“compassion is the daily practice of recognizing & accepting our shared humanity so that we treat ourselves & others with loving-kindness, & we take action in the face of suffering.”—brené brown

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
