it’s thursday, february 11, & we have a new moon in capricorn, in the starspace called dhanishtha. the new moon launches the next lunar cycle &, with capricorn chock-a-block with planets (see posts from the past two days for more on that), we may be feeling that it’s hard to get off the ground, move forward. we may be feeling the tug of all that energy, of the heaviness of saturn, who rules capricorn & is therefore creating an environment of fear & pressure & uber seriousness for all those other planets. but if we can drop all that weight, how much farther we will be able to fly!

as my astro bud casey scott says, “almost every hand on the cosmic clock is pointing towards ‘get your shit together’ o’clock.”

translation: it’s time to drop that weight, let gooooooo, trust, fly.

dhanishtha means “wealthy in mind & spirit” & is represented by the damaru, shiva’s favorite drum. we tap or pound on the head of the drum & sound is carried/created via its hollowness, by the meeting of effort (tapping) & grace (the quality of air/receptivity/surrender).

in the yoga tradition, this combo of effort & grace is key to becoming yogis. to be a yogi means becoming skillful at being in this world, at being fully human—even shiva had to come down from his mountain cave & walk the talk. abhyasa is the discipline to do our practices, whatever they are, with discipline over time. vairagyam is surrendering attachment to the outcome, to being receptive to whatever arises, whatever manifests as a result of our effort.

toggling between effort & grace is a dance, a constant dance, & who is the best dancer in the universe but shiva, who plays the damaru & dances the universe into existence & who was the most disciplined practitioner & surrenderer!

soooooo, what do you want to manifest in the next thirty days & how can you use the energy of dhanishtha to create a feeling of soul-wealth, to launch your forward on your path?

& don’t forget that thursday is owned by jupiter, the guru, who is here to provide guidance on your journey. ask for guidance & you will receive. allow yourself to be hollow, receptive, like a drum.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. it is my hope that the daily bliss can help you align with the day’s cosmic energy & find a little more bliss; that it inspires you to enlighten up a little more each day.
