it’s monday, february 13, & moon will be in scorpio as soon as this post goes live, in the starspace called vishakha. scorpio vibrates with the frequency of our darkest emotions. it’s where, to paraphrase the bee gees, emotions take us over, tie up our soul. there is a difference between emotions & feelings: feelings are experienced consciously, while emotions manifest either consciously or subconsciously. one widely accepted theory suggests that we have six basic emotions—sadness, happiness, fear, anger, surprise & disgust—& that, for example, sadness is “an emotional state characterized by feelings of disappointment, grief or hopelessness.” scorpio is ruled by mars, who—best-case scenario—gives us the courage to dive beneath our emotions to the underlying feelings, so that our emotions don’t keep our soul tied up, so we can learn what they want to teach us, process them & move on, continue our growth work, our soul work.
vishakha is the only asterism ruled by two deities, agni & indra, the priest & the king. “vi” = apart from, opposite, intense; “shākhā” = branch. so the question is whether we are going away from one branch or toward one in particular, as in choosing one over the other, or whether we are intensely going toward both. are we ready to ditch the material world? are we desiring to go all in on the material? or, maybe, we are realizing that it’s not one or the other but both and, that our spiritual practices give our material existence more meaning & that the container of our material existence allows us to pursue our spiritual evolution.
it’s the eighth lunar day, the eight phase of the waning moon, which is the halfway point in the second half of this lunar cycle, when there is a balance between darkness & light. so we may feel those dual, dueling, energies today, especially given moon in scorpio. yet this is considered a jaya tithi (phase), which will grant us victory … hopefully over the forces of darkness, the churning emotional chaos that may be at play.
monday is ruled by the moon, which is our feeling nature. feeling our feelings takes us to the core of who we are, to our essence, to the place beyond our masks of personality. what are you feeling? what does that say about who you are at your essence?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
