it’s wednesday, february 15, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeshtha, until noon, then leaps, without a starry net (so mind your mind!), into sagittarius, landing in the starspace called mula. the leap from scorpio into sag is the leap from darkness into light, from fear into hope, which, if we’ve done our work in scorpio, comes naturally, if not easily, b/c shadow work ain’t a walk in the park. the transition from the frequency of scorpio’s dark night of the soul into sag comes from the earned & learned awareness that we are not the darkness we endure, but the light that refuses to surrender.
jyeshtha is ruled by indra, who single-handedly slew the colossal dragon vritra not with physical strength but with courage & cunning. this asterism gives us the power to rise up & conquer, overcome great struggles through effort, resolve & independence. mula is ruled by niritti, the goddess of destruction & an especially fierce form of kali, which is saying something! this asterism gives us the power to get to the root (“mula” = root; think muladhara chakra, the root chakra) of our afflictions & destroy them. this destruction is necessary, is part of the cycle of creation, makes way for something new to be born, just as weeding a garden makes room for new shoots to rise up, grow & thrive.
it’s the tenth lunar day, the tenth phase of the waning moon, which supports us in doing our dharma, what we’re meant to do. i once bumped into my (drunken!) editor at the airport, who counseled me to start having babies, that the time is never right. the time was def not right then, & i didn’t start having babies, but i took her point—if we wait for conditions to be perfect, we may never do what we’re meant to do.

it’s clearly a good day to seize the day!
wednesday is ruled by mercury, planet of communication. communicating is as much as, if not more than, about listening as about talking, listening to others & to our inner voice, which means tuning our ears & tuning out small talk & gossip so we can connect to the truest words & share them.
