it’s thursday, february 17, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called purvaphalguni. in the environment of leo, we feel into our sovereignty, our supreme power over our lives & the lives of others. note the word “supreme,” which is another word for the divine, for god, for the ineffable. our power comes not from ourselves, but flows through us by the grace of god. we are but vehicles. if we can remember that, if we can remain connected to the spark of the divine within us, then we can rule righteously, in alignment with dharma, truth, & by doing so do our bit to bring more balance to the world.
the war in the bhagavad gita was fought to end the reign of tyranny & put yudishthira, the son of dharma himself & arjuna’s older brother, on the throne & thus restore balance to the world. we can too! imagine if everyone did too!
purvaphalguni is represented by the front legs of a bed, but it’s not a bed for sleeping—it’s a bed for lounging in, for taking a siesta, in which to partake of a little afternoon delight. this asterism brings the lesson that after a king/queen/quing dispenses with their official duties, they get to rest up, take some time out for pleasure, curl up with their beloved. all work & no play makes jack or jill a dull boy or girl or nonbinary person. & who wants a dullard ruling the realm? pleasure can be a source of great creativity, can be the inspiration to do good work, b/c who doesn’t do better work, isn’t more inspired, when they feel good? so, as charles eames said, “take your pleasure seriously”—especially today!
it’s the first lunar day, the first phase of the waning moon, so we may still be feeling the fullness of the full moon, feeling into its big reveal, so we can integrate that insight into the waning cycle, begin the process of bringing this month’s moon work full circle, so to speak.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, the guru, who gives us the teachings that create the foundation for our belief system. we all believe something. what do you believe & are you living it?
“to believe in something, & not to live it, is dishonest.”—mahatma gandhi
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
