it’s monday, february 19, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called ardra. gemini vibrates with the frequency of its ruling planet, thinky, curious, playful mercury. gemini creates an environment in which we try new things, explore new ideas not for any reason except just cause. just cause we can. just cause we want to. just for the experience. venturing into new intellectual or creative or physical (is it time to try pickleball?!) realms, testing ourselves in those realms, figuring out what we like & what we don’t, what feels aligned & what doesn’t, is how we keep defining & refining our identity, keep ourselves fresh rather than stuck in staleness. feeling stale or stuck? it’s a good day to get unstuck, to freshen up your life.
ardra is ruled by rudra, the stormy aspect of shiva, god of destruction/transformation. let’s face it, transformation is the nature of existence—we’ve been transforming since we were born, our old self constantly being destroyed so a new self can be born. are you still crawling & breastfeeding? we, however, always want to be the agents of change, to control our destiny. but how can we when we don’t know, ultimately, what it is? all we can control is how we respond to change. ardra can bring tears in the face of something being destroyed—whether those tears are an expression of our resistance to or welcoming of the situation is up to us. remembering that something wouldn’t be destroyed if it wasn’t time for us to let it go might be helpful.
it’s the eleventh lunar day (tithi), the eleventh phase of the waxing moon, which supports spiritual practices, whatever brings us closer to spirit, our essence as spirit. like fasting, meditation, prayer. “as my prayer became more attentive & inward,” wrote soren kierkegaard, “i had less & less to say. i finally became completely silent … this is how it is. to pray does not mean to listen to oneself speaking. prayer involves becoming silent, & being silent, & waiting until god is heard.”
monday is ruled by the moon, who wants to feel peaceful & wants everyone else to feel peaceful as well. moon’s mantra is, “may all beings everywhere be happy & free, & may the thoughts words & actions of my own life help to facilitate that freedom & happiness for all”—lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu!
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
