it’s thursday, february 1, & moon is in libra, in the starspace called chitra. after hunkering down & paying attention to the details of our life in virgo, we are ready to kick up our heels & actually live it in libra, which means we are ready to pay attention to our people, to our relationships, all of them, whether personal or professional, b/c humans are, at heart, relational beings, are designed to hew toward others, want to connect with others. in my previous life, when i lived in new york, i was in a private writing workshop for many years run by the pulitizer-prize-winning (altho he hadn’t won the prize yet) poet phil schultz, whose mantra was “technique will set you free.” that mantra reminds me of the transition from virgo to libra: in virgo we focus on technique, on the rules that create a container for our lives, keep us safe; in libra that container of safety affords us the freedom to be creative, sociable, get out & about, or invite others in, now that our home base is in order.

chitra (see yesterday’s post for more) is ruled by tvashtar, the cosmic architect, who famously fashioned indra’s vajra, a weapon made from a thunderbolt. tvashtar’s faculties of attention & imagination were so strong (more below!) that he was able to manifest from them—a direct transmission from idea into reality.

it’s the seventh lunar day (tithi), the seventh phase of the waning moon, which gives us the courage & steadiness to fulfill our duties, qualities that come from being able to control our mind, focus our precious faculties of attention, our monkey mind. shiva wore the moon (aka the mind) in his dreads, a symbol of control over the fickleness, restlessness, of his mind (moon is constantly on the move, waxing & waning). we might ask ourselves whether we could use more discipline & self-control in order to better take responsibility for our lives, fulfill our duties, do our dharma.

thursday is ruled by jupiter, who gives us hope by connecting us to wisdom teachings, which remind us that we are part of a bigger plan than the one we can see with our eyes, that there is a greater force at play. it’s always a good idea to connect to our wisdom sources on jupiter’s day. what does that mean for you?

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
