it’s thursday, february 22, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called ashlesha. cancer is the environment of the divine feminine, where we can tap into qualities like receptivity, heart-centeredness, compassion, unconditional love, intuition, which we all have, regardless of our gender identification. we are all humans & humans are composites, contain multitudes. it’s a good day to rock your feminine, to, say, be love, be in the flow of your heart rather than your mind. mind may say, “a real man hides his feelings,” but as brené brown wrote in “daring greatly,” “a real man knows that being vulnerable and expressing his emotions is a sign of courage, not weakness.” may we all be courageously real today!
ashlesha is ruled by the nagas, the entire kingdom of celestial beings said to be half serpent & half man (or woman?!). this asterism invites us into an inquiry with the toxic energy in our life, with the negative people, emotions, events, situations, ideas & behaviors we are clinging to, are entwined with. “whenever anything negative happens to you, there is a deep lesson concealed within it, although you may not see it at the time,” said eckhart tolle. ashlesha gives us the ability to dive into the nooks & crannies of our psychic depths to root out & paralyze our enemies with poison (i.e., venom), the poison of naming them, the poison of wisdom. what negativity can you get your fangs into today so you can release its hold on you?
it’s the fourteenth lunar day (tithi), the fourteenth phase of the waxing moon, which means the penultimate phase before the full moon, in leo, overnight tomorrow, which is going to be a powerful one—so we may be feeling that build up even more than usual. compounding the serpent energy of ashlesha, one name of the goddess associated with this tithi is nagini, or “serpent lady,” who is connected with awakening kundalini, the spiritual energy that lies dormant at the base of our spine. what awakens it? releasing more & more & more & more of what doesn’t serve our highest expression of self, our most divine nature, like the negativity that boa-constrictors us.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, who gives us hope by connecting us with wisdom teachers & teachings, like, um, the wisdom that comes from learning our lessons.
