it’s wednesday, february 24, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called pushya. cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac & as such creates a fourth-house-like environment. the fourth house is about whether & how we feel at home in ourselves, which means how settled & comfortable we feel in our hearts, b/c that’s home base for human us. our challenge, if we accept it, is to open our hearts to everyone & everything, to feel that heart connection, that unconditional (i.e., maternal) love, without becoming so sensitized to what others feel & need that we totally lose ourselves.
pushya is related to honoring our lineage by nourishing it, keeping everyone fed. the story goes (cliffsnotes version!) that soma, the moon god, & tara, brihaspati’s much younger wife, ran off together &, as will happen in the process of a passionate adventure, tara became pregnant with the moon’s child. brihaspati (aka jupiter), without knowing the deets, waged a war with soma to get tara back, which he did. & then he found out about the baby bump & became furious. however, when mercury spontaneously birthed himself, brihaspati was so charmed by the one who would be called budha (as in “buddhi,” discriminating intelligence—see below: it’s mercury’s, budha’s, day!) that he melted. who melts your heart? how can you melt your heart more?
it’s the thirteenth lunar day, the thirteenth phase of the waxing moon, which is connected to kamadeva, the hindu equivalent of cupid. so—duh!—it’s a good day to get with your beloved, or other loved ones, to fulfill your desires, do your happy, remembering that you get to love you first & foremost.
mercury, who owns wednesday, just went direct in capricorn on saturday. that means you are, hopefully, ready to move forward in whatever area of life you have been using your buddhi, discriminating intelligence, to ponder, to gather information about, in the past three weeks. (it helps if you know your rising sign & therefore which houses capricorn & aquarius, where merc dipped his toes before reversing course on january 31, occupy.) hallelujah! &, as usual, it’s a good day to use your words skillfully, diplomatically, lovingly.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. it is my hope that the daily bliss can help you align with the day’s cosmic energy & find a little more bliss; that it inspires you to enlighten up a little more each day.
