it’s monday, february 27, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called rohini. taurus vibrates with the frequency of contentment, which is called “santosha” in sanskrit & is one of the niyamas. while the five yamas are guidelines for how to be with others, how to interact with the world around us, the five niyamas are guideliness for how to be with & in ourselves. the yamas & niyamas are the first two limbs of the eight-limbed path of raja yoga as described by patanjali in his yoga sutra. they are followed by asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana & samadhi. samadhi is the peacefulness, the contentment, that is the goal of yoga & the highest expression of taurus. note that the technique to achieve samadhi starts from the outside & works its way in. & that’s sort of how taurus operates: we seek contentment in the external world until eventually but inevitably we realize that relationships & food & vacations & houses & cars just don’t really do it for us—what they can offer is temporal, fleeting, & we realize that peace isn’t out there but in here. for, as shri brahmananda sarasvati has said, “peace is not found somewhere outside, but it is within us. it is our real nature.”

rohini is the moon’s favorite place & is ruled by prajapati, the creator of all creatures. this asterism brings the power of growth, fertility & creation, but also the possibility of jealousy as a result of that abundance bestowed on us. we get to be careful what we wish for & what we create, make sure the universe knows that we’re happy to receive its gifts as long as doing so is in the best interest of everyone, no one is going to get bent out of shape as a result.

it’s the eighth lunar day, the eighth phase of the waxing moon, which is ruled by the vasus, the three gunas & five elements that are the basis of all creation. so it’s a double-good day to double-down on your powers of creativity, to tweak your special recipe for manifestation, adding a little more earth, subtracting a smidgen of rajas, whatever works for you.

monday is the moon’s day, which means it’s a good day to trust our intuition, our heart-knowing, to feel into, rather than think into, what we know to be true.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
