it’s thursday, february 29, & moon is in libra, in the starspace called swati. venus, planet of our earthly delights, rules libra, & our earthly delights include relationships, b/c humans are relational, the desire to connect to others is hardwired. & venus loves love, in all its multifaceted emanations. unlike the moon’s love, which is unconditional, venus’ is conditional, it’s transactional—venus wants something in return when it gives love. so libra is where our relationship work lives, & all relationship work starts with our own work, with showing up authentically, & knowing that we can’t do someone else’s work for them. “all we can do for another person,” said ram dass, “is be an environment in which if they wanted to come up for air, they could.” libra gives us an opportunity to examine whether we are doing the lion’s share of work in a relationship—whether it’s business or romantic—whether we are giving more than we are getting, & to stop doing that.

swati is ruled by vayu, hanuman’s dad & the god of wind, of prana—our internal winds or life force. hanuman famously tapped into superpowers he didn’t realize he had by harnessing his prana, focussing his precious life force. what facilitated that feat was his devotion to ram, to god, to something bigger than himself. this asterism reminds us that devotion is the key to unleashing our own superpowers. what are you truly devoted to? it’s a good day to do some pranayama so you can focus your energy & use it wisely, direct it intentionally.

it’s the fifth lunar day (tithi), the fifth phase of the waning moon, which, like thursday, is ruled by jupiter, whose sanskrit name is “guru,” aka “the one who dispels ignorance.” it is also associated with lakshmi, whose name is derived from “laksh” (लक्ष्), which means “goal” or “aim.” lakshmi helps us reach our goal, hit our mark, which happens only when when our ignorance is dispelled & we have clarity about what it is & harness our prana to keep our aim true.

thursday is ruled by jupiter, whose key word is “wisdom.” “the only true wisdom,” said socrates, “is in knowing you know nothing.” which is another way of saying the more we learn, the less we know. & the less we know, the more open we are to learning, to gaining true wisdom.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
