it’s thursday, february 8, & moon is in capricorn, in the starspace called uttarashadha. saturn-ruled capricorn is the complement, you might say the antidote, to jupiter-ruled sagittarius. whereas fiery, ethereal sag lights us up with inspiration, earthy, serious capricorn creates a container for our inspiration. jupiter expands, saturn contracts. saturn invites us to get serious about our lives, to remember that it’s all well & fine to have dreams, but they’re a waste of time if we don’t do anything about them, if we don’t, say, pick one & become disciplined about turning it into reality. “discipline,” abe lincoln said, “is choosing between what you want now & what you want most.” what is your “most”? are you wasting time on “now”—or is “now” serving your “most”?
uttarashadha is the starry bridge between sagittarius & capricorn, supporting & transporting planets & luminaries as they journey from one to the other, reminding us of the connection between the former & the latter, between our dreamiest dreams & realest reality. it is also the counterpart to yesterday’s purvashadha—purva is about the first steps, uttara the latter, toward victory; in purva we plant the seeds & water them, in uttara they mature, the acorn, eventually but inevitably, becomes the oak. of course, yeah, not every acorn becomes an oak—weather & critters will have something to say about that—but that acorn isn’t going to be able to, without our encouragement & nourishment, grow bigger & stronger, take up more & more space, every day.
it’s the fourteenth lunar day (tithi), the fourteenth phase of the waning moon. which means we’ve got a new moon on the horizon tomorrow—in capricorn, in the starspace called dhanishta, where we will be invited to make bold progress regarding our material goals, to stop procrastinating (not accusing anyone—just saying!). use this day to start brewing up a new moon plan, to release whatever isn’t going to serve that plan, & to also be gentle with yourself, b/c as moon wanes to nothingness, we, too, can feel depleted.
thursday is ruled by jupiter, planet of hope, inspiration, expansion, abundance, wisdom, highest purpose. thursday is always a good day to tap into those qualities within, regardless of whether, say, capricorn, is leading us in the opposite direction. we need both, the one balancing the other.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
