it’s monday, february 8, & moon is in sagittarius, in the starspace called purvashadha. sagittarius creates an atmosphere that invites us to examine our beliefs, especially in terms of how they guide our way on. are they leading us toward our highest purpose? everyone has beliefs, fascists & progressives alike. beliefs don’t care if you follow them & end up with a warrant out for your arrest or with a congressional medal of honor. so the question is, are your beliefs in service to you or are you a victim of your beliefs?

purvashadha can be translated as “that which cannot be suppressed.” ok, i’ll ask another question: what is within you that wants to be born, that must be born? what would your life not be complete without manifesting?

it’s the twelfth phase of the waning moon, which is connected to the sun, who is our consistent source of energy (sun never goes out!) & gives us our vision. it’s a good day to chant the gayatri mantra, which is one way to connect to our inner sun, our inner light, which, like the sun at the center of our solar system, is always shining.

ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः
तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं
भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि
धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात् ॥

Om Bhuur-Bhuvah Svah
Tat-Savitur-Varennyam

1: Om, Pervading the Bhu Loka (Earth, Consciousness of the Physical Plane), Bhuvar Loka (Antariksha, The Intermediate Space, Consciousness of Prana) and Swar Loka (Sky, Heaven, Consciousness of the Divine Mind),
2: That Savitur (Savitri, Divine Essence of the Sun) which is the most Adorable,
3: I Meditate on that Divine Effulgence,
4: May that Awaken our Intelligence (Spiritual Consciousness).

monday is ruled by the moon, who is our inner knowing, our felt sense of what is true, our intuition. “the doorway to intuition is through the heart,” said ram dass. the more we open our hearts, the wider we open that door, & opening our hearts means connecting to others, being more fully human. the more fully human we allow ourselves to be, the more we connect to our divine nature, which is a kind of lovely paradox, no?
