Well, the world did not end at the end of 2012, but maybe it was time to bury our obsolete perspectives on how we think the world should be or is or can be. The message coming from various directions — the movie Zeitgeist (more on that in another post), astrologers, all-knowing ones — is that 2013 is going to be the year of the paradigm shift: of finding new ways to live & be & connect (bartering rather than buying? conserving rather than expending? downsizing rather than upsizing? doing rather than dreaming? uniting rather than separating?). & that’s the focus of a series of workshops I’m offering at Mountain Moon Yoga in Winter Park, Colorado, this season, each one a unique opportunity to get rid of the old to make room for the new so you can live from a place of truth, joy & light. Check ’em out:

Twist It Out (January 26): Let go of what doesn’t serve you and find more balance and flexibility in body, mind, and spirit. When you twist, you are literally wringing yourself out: detoxing internal organs and the lymphatic system and encouraging your side channels to loosen their grip on the third chakra, where the ego lives. By focusing your precious faculty of intention while you twist, you can let go of attachments and aversions that are preventing you from being all you can be.

Turn Your World Upside Down (February 9): Inversions are the most powerful of the asanas, having a profound affect on you physically by reversing the aging process (true, that!), mentally by stimulating your intuition and clarity of thinking, and spiritually by expanding your consciousness. Not to mention that they’re fun as heck: who doesn’t want to connect to the child within who loved standing on his or her hands and did so fearlessly and joyfully? Come play. All levels welcome. Bring a sense of adventure and a sense of humor!

Open Your Heart (March 9): The heart chakra is the seat of joy and compassion and the gateway to higher levels of consciousness, but it is no easy gate to open! While the side channels wrap around the central channel once to create each of the other six chakras, they wrap three times around the central channel to create the heart chakra. Progressing through the first three chakras by moving from standing poses to hip openers to twists, we’ll prepare ourselves to unknot that over-engineered knot in the center of our chests with some juicy back bending to open up the entire front of the body — a full-on heart-opening practice. Come with a sense of adventure and some knowledge of basic hatha postures and expect to experience the joy that is truly your birthright.

Spring Cleaning from the Inside Out (April 13): The chakras are portals through which we perceive reality. As storehouses of our past thoughts, words, and deeds, they tint the way we see the world. In this workshop, we will use mantra, asana, and high intention to explore the attributes of each chakra, diving deeply into our individual history to get rid of the inner-clutter, so that we can see and feel clearly. By addressing the issues associated with each chakra, we’re able to free ourselves from emotional, mental, and physical bondage and move forward in our lives. This practice has the power to bring profound healing, ignite your inner light, and inspire a more meaningful connection to the world around you, freeing you to become who you are really meant to be. … All levels are welcome. Workshop includes lecture, meditation, and asana.
