it’s monday, february 9, moon moves from libra into scorpio just after noon MST while being supported & transported by the starspace called viśakhā, it’s the eighth tithi & moon’s day.

libra vibrates with the frequency of relationships, of sociability, scorpio with the repercussions. moon was in libra all weekend—how’d that go? super bowl party, anyone? olympics hang? how’d that go?

one interesting thing about libra is that we can be lovers or fighters under its sway, b/c libra wants harmony & equality & sometimes we, inadvertently or not, ruffle some feathers, shake things up to bring an imbalance front & center & correct it.

& then, under the sway of scorpio, our emotions get churned up, we might have doubts or regrets about our behavior, about having been, for example, too honest (goddess forbid!). we might worry that so-&-so now has negative thoughts about us, might not want to be our friend anymore.

guess what? we have thousands of thoughts every day & experience hundreds of emotions (of which, according to the dalai lama, there are 34,000 possibilities!), which function like a feedback loop, triggering each other—a sensation produces a thought about it, a thought makes us feel a particular way, & on & on & on it goes.

“let everything happen to you: beauty & terror. just keep going. no feeling is final.”—rilke

viśakhā means “forked” or “branched” & is ruled by both indra & agni, the king & the priest. its superpower is the ability to penetrate all things by uniting our life force & will power, our spiritual & material branches, which, like a king & priest, work better together than apart: the king financially supports the priest, the priest performs pujas, blesses the king’s efforts.

are you feeling united or divided?

the eighth lunar day (tithi), the eighth phase of the waning moon, is the halfway point in moon’s cycle, in this case, from full to new, from bright as bright to dark as dark. if you look up at the sky moon looks half dark, half light & we may feel half & half ourselves, like a half-empty or half-full glass of water. our challenge is not to lean toward empty or full but to be able to embrace our emptiness & our fullness, our shadow & our light, what we love about ourselves & not so much, to love even the qualities we don’t love.

monday is ruled by the moon, who invites us to see with love’s eyes.

“the eyes are blind, one must look with the heart. … it is only with the heart that one can see rightly. what is essential remains invisible to the eye.”—le petit prince, antoine de saint-exupéry

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
