it’s friday, january 16, & moon is in sagittarius, in the starspace called mūla. after being tossed & turned by the stormy seas of scorpio, sagittarius feels like a chopper has appeared out of nowhere to dangle a drop line down to us, save us from our emotional maelstrom. help has been on the way all the time!
where does that help come from? from sag’s ruling planet, wise & generous jupiter, who gives us perspective, helps us see the bigger picture, realize that this (this thought, this feeling), too, will pass. jupiter gives us faith in something bigger than ourselves—call it god.
“the men who dropped the atomic bomb on hiroshima said that god was with them; … the people who say they believe in god have destroyed half the world, & the world is in complete misery.”—krishnamurti
a friend of mine once said that “god” = goodness over darkness. & you might recall that i mentioned the other day that in her gospels, mary magdalene referred to god as “the good.”
can it really ever be good to kill? maim? destroy?
lmk what you think!
mūla means “root” & is ruled by niritti, precursor to kali & a fierce goddess if ever there was one—& there are lots! she helps us get to the roots of our issues, of our blocks, & mercilessly yank them out. she seeks & destroys, does not noodle over them forever. she is marie kondo on steroids. there is no “maybe” or “look at later” pile when we tap into her energy & go through the drawers & closets of our inner life. it’s just, “does it serve or not?” done!
yes, we can still thank what no longer serves, just not get all sentimental about it.
it’s the thirteenth lunar day (tithi), the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, until almost 10 a.m. MST, then the fourteenth. the fourteenth (see yesterday’s post for the thirteenth) is ruled by kali (!) & is connected to the story of sati’s self-immolation, her willingness to sacrifice herself for the sake of love, for her highest self.
there is no purification without sacrifice. what are you willing to sacrifice, release, create space in which to express your highest?
spoiler alert: sati was reincarnated as parvati—you, too, will thrive!
friday is ruled by venus, who is ultimately the experience of samadhi, pure absorption into the divine, union with all that is, pure bliss. on a daily basis we might experience tiny samadhis, blips of bliss, might be momentarily absorbed by, say, a piece of chocolate, a colorful sunset, by love or sex. what’ll it be today?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
