it’s friday, january 10, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called rohini. taurus is the sign of having it all, or what we think of as all, & it is opposite scorpio, the sign of, you might say, losing it all, of having no control over keeping it all. taurus represents everything we have accumulated (money, possessions, people we love) that creates a container for our lives, that creates value, gives us a sense of our value. scorpio represents sudden, shocking changes/events, like, yes, your house being reduced to ash & rubble with no warning. the taurus-scorpio axis invites us to embrace both security & insecurity, comfort & discomfort, & most of us, i dare say, are better with the former than the latter, the latter tests us mightily.
rohini is moon’s favorite place & the moon had to learn a hard lesson about playing favorites, spending all his time in one asterism, in one section of the sky, which made the others jealous. do love what you love but beware flaunting it.
it’s the twelfth lunar day (tithi), the twelfth phase of the waxing moon, which, if we prayed hard enough yesterday, brings answers to our prayers. how many of us prayed hard hard hard for the fires in los angeles to be contained only to fall asleep or wake up to hellscape images?! i’m not saying there’s no power in prayer, especially in aligned prayer across the globe. but it has got me thinking about fate & free will & how they interact.
our natal charts reflect the karma that we brought into this life, that brought us into this life, which you might call fate. but/& we have the ability to affect that karma. our chart is like a weather forecast: if the forecast calls for rain, we don a raincoat & carry an umbrella. (gratitude to visti larsen for the weather metaphor.)
if devastating conflagrations caused by wind events have long been predicted, you make sure water tanks are filled & brush is cleared, you spend more not less money on remediation efforts. & then you pray. & do a rain dance.
friday, like taurus, is ruled by venus, who defines the human experience, infuses our embodied existence with pleasures like art & love & food, all of which are by their nature temporal. venus’ mantra is “IN-joy while you can!”
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
