it’s thursday, july 24, & we have a new moon in cancer, in the starspace called puṣya. not only do sun & moon meet in cancer, but retrograde mercury is also in watery cancer, retrograde saturn is in watery pisces, at the same degree (7°) as new moon in cancer, & fiery mars is just edging past fiery ketu in fiery leo, breaking the kala sarpa spell we’ve been under for the past four months. emotions are on high! let’s unpack all that!

cancer is the sign of the divine feminine, of unconditional love; compassion is its north star. cancer is our emotional core, where we feel deeply, think with our heart, carry deep wounds. sun is shining a light on our heart center, bringing awareness to those wounds. & ketu, who is connected to the ancestors, is in leo, sun’s sign, inviting us to heal those wounds, not just for ourselves but for our lineage, b/c when we do our work, it gets passed backward & forward.

retrograde mercury is in aśleṣā, which gives us the power to hold & transform poisons, the ones coming from our mind, to repurpose/upcylce them as wisdom, lessons learned.

puṣya is the star of nourishment & is ruled by brihaspati, the priest. his name derives from the sanskrit verb that means “to grow, expand,” as in being able to hold space for whatever arises, as a priest does.

in the D20 chart of spiritual progress, sun, moon & saturn all dwell in the portion ruled by goddess matangi, whose mantra might be, “garbage in, garbage out!” she embodies the alchemical process of recycling our emotions, the leftovers, what’s still undigested.

what wounds need to heal? what story needs to go? what can you move through & out?

this new moon invites us to turn inward & process, reflect rather than react (ohhh, all that fire at play!), to be patient, to let the feelings flow through us & witness them rather than to make meaning out of them.

once mars moves out of the fire zone into virgo next week, the answers will arise, ideas will crystalize, next steps will become clear.

remember that when we think we know the answer, we can’t hear our intuition, our heart, speak.

be gentle with yourself, take good care of yourself, nourish thyself.

“when we care for ourselves as our very own beloved—with naps, healthy food, clean sheets, a lovely cup of tea—we can begin to give in wildly generous ways to the world, from abundance.”—anne lamott

or, as i like to say: put your own oxygen mask on first!

wishing you a most blessed & transformative new moon!

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
