it’s friday, december 12, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace called uttaraphālgunī. if leo is the king, virgo is the chambermaid. if leo sits on the throne, virgo dusts & polishes it. if leo oversees the vastness of their realm, virgo oversees the minuteness of it. where leo struts upon the stage, happily stands in the limelight, virgo is backstage with their face hidden in the shadows. for virgo’s attention is on all the details that keep our king-/queen-/quing-dom in good repair, running smoothly. virgo stays ahead of disaster, doesn’t wait (like my landlord) for the roof to fall in before attending to it, keeps gutters clear, blows out the sprinklers.
virgo time is time to take off our crown & put on an apron & rubber gloves, pick up a feather duster, scrub & polish, get out the calculator & deal with bank balances (ugh!). it’s time to upgrade personal habits/routines to keep us healthy if they need upgrading—& don’t they always? isn’t there always room for improvement?
how’s your diet? your exercise regimen? your meditation &/or other spiritual practices?
uttaraphālgunī is the counterpart to yesterday’s purvaphālgunī. whereas purva brought the early fruits (phālgunī), uttara brings the latter, the full fruit, you might say, the completion. in purva we date, in uttara we commit, sign a contract, whether for marriage or other legal arrangements. for aryaman, who rules uttara, blesses contracts, especially but not only, those for marriage. but he blesses only those that benefit both/all parties.
the shakti (power) of this nakshatra is to bring prosperity, wealth & accumulation through (mutually beneficial!) partnerships, through marriage.
it’s a good day to assess commitments to others, to nourish new or old ones so they can go the distance.
it’s the ninth lunar day (tithi), the ninth phase of the waning moon, which is ruled by the nagas, those creepy-crawly serpents of our depths, who invite us to turn inward. in combo with watery friday, this watery tithi can accentuate our water element, heighten our emotions & make us feel unsupported. be aware of that.
friday is ruled by venus, planet of love & beauty but also planet of war—oh, no! oh, yes! friday is considered vedic date night, so make sure you accentuate the former, not the latter, that you don’t (which see above) let a tsunami of emotions ruin it
