it’s tuesday, january 10, & moon is in leo, in the starspace called magha. as the polar opposite to the previous sign of cancer, which vibrates with the frequency of the divine feminine, leo vibrates with the frequency of the divine masculine. while both energies are protective in a way, cancer protects with the feelingness of love, leo by taking action in a loving way. as the king, leo thinks first of what will make his queen & his people feel loved up, safe. he acts for their benefit, not his own; he benefits from acting on behalf of those he has sovereignty over b/c it gives him a sense of purpose, it allows him to fulfill his dharma, just as the reason for beingness for a lion, the symbol of leo, is to protect his pride (& i don’t mean ego!).
magha means “mighty,” is symbolized by a throne & is ruled by the pitris, our ancestors. this asterism reminds us that we get our power, our mightiness, from all those who came before us, just as any sovereign gets to sit on their throne thanks only to being next in line in their lineage. we get to make our mark on the world b/c others made theirs, & we have a responsibility to make our mark, fulfill our dharma, carry the grace forward, so others can fulfill theirs. if cézanne hadn’t been inspired by the work of courbet & delacroix, he wouldn’t have experimented with three-dimensional spacing and perspective & picasso & braque never would’ve concocted cubism! if picasso hadn’t gone through a period inspired by african masks, who knows if he would’ve been primed for cézanne’s work. how far back can you trace your lineage? to whom do you owe homage? the best way to show your gratitude is to fulfill your dharma. if you don’t know what that is, think about what you can’t not do.
it’s the fourth lunar day, the fourth phase of the waning moon, which means we may feel thwarted today, butt up against obstacles, unpleasantness.
tuesday is owned by mars, who is also turning his fiery gaze on the moon right now. let’s make sure we keep our temperature under control, act rather than react, especially if obstacles in our path give rise to frustration.
