it’s wednesday, january 12, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called krittika. taurus vibrates with the frequency of happiness & in taurus we tend to look for happiness outside ourselves, in creature comforts, in food & overstuffed couches & other people. ultimately we discover that we are our own source of happiness, we learn how to be happy for no reason, but if dark artisanal chocolate melting on the tongue gives us an idea of what happiness tastes like, that’s not a bad start on the journey.
“it is difficult to find happiness within oneself, but it is impossible to find it anywhere else.”—arthur schopenhauer
krittika is ruled by agni, the primordial god of fire. fire is bright & hot (duh!) & so gives us insight & the ability to digest the information & concepts that give us insights. krittika is “critical” & brings the lesson that by focusing our precious analytical faculties we can insightfully cut (krit means “to cut”) through problems & whatever we find confusing with the skill of a surgeon. this is not a day to act like a wuss—if something or someone is not working for you, sharpen your mental scalpel & excise it or them!
it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waxing moon, which is considered krishna’s favorite tithi (lunar day). krishna devotees fast from sunrise to sunrise in order to be closer to him. fasting can be complete or partial—perhaps consuming only lighter foods, like fruits & vegetables. when we fast, our bodies have less to process, less work to do, less distraction, so we can turn our focus to what’s highest, to god.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who is the part of us that is inquisitive & curious, that wants to know what’s what. mercury has no skin in the game, can pivot when new information challenges once-held opinions, do a 180. like if we once thought fauci was a hero & now realize he’s the opposite, b/c why should the person responsible for the covid protocol scratch his head in wonder when asked why the united states has one of the highest case & death rates in the world? who is responsible for those obscene numbers if not him? mercury just wants the truth, b/c only the truth will set us free.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
