it’s tuesday, january 12, & moon is in sagittarius, in the starspace called purvashadha, although the new moon, in uttarashadha this evening, will be influenced by that asterism’s energy. sagittarius gives us access to our beliefs; it supplies our hopes & inspirations, allows us to see the bigger picture, creates context for our lives. but not all beliefs are created equal: the home-grown terrorists who wreaked havoc on the capitol last week have beliefs, although they are clearly not grounded in reality or in a true knowing of how the world works. are yours?
purvashadha and uttarashadha are the before (purva) & after (uttara) of ashadha (victory) & each is represented by an elephant tusk, making a pair & the connection to ganesha, the remover of obstacles. purvashadha invites us to water, to nourish, the seeds we plant after making room for them by all that uprooting yesterday in mula nakshatra. how we take care of those seeds determines whether or not they will flourish, & of course what takes root is determined by what we plant.
uttarashadha suggests that eventually, but inevitably, we will be victorious, we will reap the fruits of what we sow, but there may be delays, there may be mutations, we may have obstacles to overcome. this asterism is one-quarter in sagittarius but three-quarters in capricorn: we get to add earthy practicality (capricorn) to our fiery inspiration & optimism (sagittarius). which means we must persist! if we hold fast to our own course, to our own authentic truth, & are not swayed by what we think will please others or by others’ beliefs, we will, indeed, be able to turn our hopes into concrete reality.
it’s the fifteenth lunar day, which is topped off by the new moon tonight in uttarashadha, which sets the tone for the next lunar month. what do you want to grow in the next lunar cycle? are you prepared to make the sacrifices? are you willing to completely, absolutely honor your vision, be unfuckupable in your quest? are you willing to be patient & go the distance? i know you got this!
