it’s monday, january 17 (happy birthday, MLK!), & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called punarvasu until early afternoon my time, then in pushya, where it will be technically full. both asterisms vibrate with the energy of the divine feminine, the creative force of the universe, as does cancer. cancer vibrates with the frequency of unconditional love, the kind of selfless, nurturing love a mother (no offense, dads! we’re talking energy not gender here) has for a child, the kind of love we have for the animals in our care. in the environment of cancer, we tap into our ability to use the creative energy of the divine feminine to nourish someone or something, which might mean making art or cooking for friends whether there are or are not children or animals in our lives.

some basic astronomy, which you probably know, but: what makes the moon full is the fact that the sun is directly opposite it, in capricorn, shining its brilliant light on the moon, who reflects that light. saturn-ruled capricorn is where we feel bound by the pressure of time and our responsibilities, by what we think society expects of us; it is our public face, how we show up in the world. moon-ruled cancer is where we feel unbound, where we can lose ourself in others; it is where our heart holds sway, where we feel into what feels right, where we trust our intuition, our inner knowing.

“intuition means, in-tuition, or to be taught from within,” wrote florence scovel shinn. this full moon is inviting us to reflect on how we are showing up in the world & how it feels, whether it resonates as true in our heart: does it feel good & right? are we showing up as a reflection of love or fear? of inclusion or exclusion?

monday is also ruled by the moon, so it’s a double-good day to double down on our watery quality, our desire to merge, to dissolve disconnection, soften what divides like water does the edges of rocks, to love rather than hate. as martin luther king, jr., famously said, “i have decided to stick to LOVE … hate is too great a burden to bear.” moon doesn’t see primary colors, can’t see blue or red, only violet/purple/indigo.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
