it’s tuesday, january 18, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called pushya. in the environment of cancer, we can be, like the (warped?!) ideal of the ideal mother, selfless givers, putting everyone first before ourselves, wanting to soothe & fix & make everything better for everyone. wanting to take care of others is a beautiful thing & i wouldn’t want to discourage anyone from doing so, but we have to remember not to do so at the expense of ourselves. cancer can be soooooo empathetic that they completely forget about their own needs. it might sound counterintuitive, but if we don’t take care of ourselves, if we don’t keep our own tank full, eventually but inevitably, we won’t have anything to give to others. how can you take care of yourself, nourish yourself today? it’s ok—it’s really not selfish!
pushya is ruled by brihaspati, the high priest, & brings the lesson that, like the lotus that blossoms into magnificence out of the muck (if you have never seen lotuses up close & personal, you are missing something!), what we nourish grows … if we are devoted to its growth. what are you nourishing & how are you nourishing it? are you nourishing what you love, & doing so with love & compassion, by connecting to the divine, to your divine nature? where are you putting your precious faculties of attention & intention?
it’s the first lunar day, the first phase of the waning moon, so we may be feeling a little hungover from that full moon, which was, with the moon being aspected by basically all of the other planets over the past couple of days, kinda intense! or was it just me?
tuesday is ruled by mars, who, as our inner warrior, is always ready for a fight. he can be a hothead. remember that, as my teacher sharon gannon has said, “it takes two people to make a fight; it takes one to make a difference.” with mars now having moved out of the emotionally turbulent waters of scorpio into sagittarius, where our beliefs give meaning to our life, we can use the fire of our fighting spirit the way it is meant to be used: to turn beliefs that no longer serve, that don’t keep our vibration as high as possible, to ash.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
