it’s wednesday, january 20, & moon is in aries, in the starspace called ashwini. aries is the first sign of the zodiac, where we begin again, so how appropriate that today is inauguration day (did you think it might never come?!), the day we inaugurate a new beginning (fingers x’d!!!) for our country. mars is conjunct the moon (i.e., hanging out very nearby in the sky), bringing the possibility for rage & violence, but i didn’t have to tell you that. let’s hope that the adults are finally in charge & have the sitch under control.
the symbol of ashwini is a pair of horses pulling in opposite directions. horses represent our senses, to which we are often slaves. in the bhagavad gita, krishna, who represents our buddhi (our intelligence), is the charioteer holding the reins of the horses pulling the chariot, the chariot being a metaphor for arjuna’s (our) body. the import is that if our mind doesn’t wrest control over our senses, they will pull us this way & that. mind gets to decide whether we go for another bowl (or pint!) of coconut bliss or not, not our taste buds, if we want the day to end well.
“when one’s mind is continuously led around by the wandering senses, it carries away the discriminating wisdom like the wind carries away a ship on the waves.” (b.g. II.67)
it’s the eighth phase of the waxing moon, which invites us to tap into our creativity as it aligns with what we value. how is (or isn’t) what you manifest a reflection of your values & how can you bring it more into alignment, if need be?
it’s wednesday, mercury’s day, a great day for communication & with merc in the sign of capricorn (which represents government), it’s perfect timing for our new president (oh, what a joy to put those two words together!) to unfurl his vision for the new administration & to unleash a flurry of executive orders to undo at least some of the wrong that’s been done to our country in the past four years.
