it’s tuesday, january 25, & moon is in libra, in the starspace called swati. in the environment of libra, we’re looking for balance, equilibrium, in our relationships. sometimes we don’t realize they’re out of whack until it’s too late, until we’ve been taken way advantage of. which see, bob ross, aka “the happy painter.” bob loved to bring the joy of painting to others so much that he didn’t care about the business end of his, well, business, & according to the angry-making docu “bob ross: happy accidents, betrayal & greed,” which you can watch on netflix, his business partners, annette & walt kowalski, screwed him over so royally that—spoiler alert!—he eventually didn’t even own his own name! that’s not how libra rolls: libra wants to keep things clear & fair from the get-go, reads the fine print to make sure there are no surprises there.
“swati” means “sword” & brings the lesson of using that sword to differentiate ourselves from others, b/c it is only when we know who we are as individuals that we can experience ourselves as part of all that is.
“swati is ‘ego.’ it is the ability to establish a definition of ‘i.’ without swati we are unable to clearly individualize ourselves. the ultimate potential of swati is self-realization: it empowers humans to develop an ego that is integrated into the divine whole.”—chandogya upanishad
if we didn’t have an ego, we wouldn’t get out of bed & do anything. if we didn’t have an ego, we wouldn’t be able to experience ego-less-ness, our true god nature.
it’s the eighth lunar day, the eighth phase of the waning moon, which is related to creativity. when we own who we are as individuals, when we let our ego do its thing, we have a bigger stake in what we create & are inspired to create even more.
tuesday is ruled by mars, who can sometimes play the blame game. remember: when you point a finger at someone else, there are three fingers pointing back at you! or, as jesus said, “don’t focus on the speck in your brother’s eye while ignoring the log in your own eye.” or, paraphrasing the jyotishi sages, use mars’ energy to deal with your own, um, shortcomings.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
