it’s thursday, january 25, & we have a full moon in cancer, in the starspace called pushya. full moon in cancer means sun is opposite, lighting up capricorn. full moon marks the halfway point in this lunar cycle, invites us to bring home the moon work we initiated on the last new moon, which was in sagittarius, in the starspace called purvashadha. our invitation then was to know what we are aiming for & be true to it. how’s that going?

capricorn is the sign of our duties & responsibilities; it’s where we get serious about what inspires us (sagittarius) & take practical action steps to make something tangible of it. sun in capricorn is highlighting that area of our life & moon opposite is in cancer, sign of the divine feminine, the embodiment of pure, all-embracing motherly love. the message is that taking care of our external duties needs to be balanced with taking care of our internal needs, that nourishing our emotional core is as important as our to-do list. we get to ask which responsibilities are dear enough to our heart to protect & nurture.

this lunar cycle began with a lot of jupiterian energy, which is still hugely in the mix: sag is ruled by jupiter, & we have three planets (mercury, venus & mars) there; jupiter is casting his gaze at those planets, showering them with wisdom & optimism; rahu is in pisces, ruled by jupiter; & pushya is ruled by brihaspati, priest to the gods, their guru, which is jupiter’s sanskrit name.

pushya means “nourisher” & there is a connection today (through rahu & ketu—i’ll spare you the astro subtleties!) with the goddess bhuvaneshvari, whose name means “mother of the universe.” like the highest expression of mother, of unconditional love, she fully accepts us as we are, all parts of us, doesn’t judge or criticize.

keywords for this full moon: gentle. motherly. feminine. receptive. compassionate. internal. love. inclusivity.

not that productivity is necessarily the point, but we do know that we are more productive, more creative, when we’re rested, well-fed, have time to play & meditate, right?

our moon work for the waning cycle is to compassionately, lovingly open our hearts more to ourselves & others, embrace self- & other-acceptance, forgive ourselves & others, to nourish ourselves & others as a mother does a child, as the guru does disciples. what’s the best that could happen?

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
