it’s friday, january 28, & moon is in scorpio, in the starspace called jyeshtha. in the environment of scorpio we feel out of control, we realize how little control we actually have over our life. & that is a great, good truth that it’s helpful to embrace, b/c then we will stop resisting what is & go with the flow, be able to bob along on the waves of life as they crest & collapse. how comfortable can you be with the discomfort of uncertainty?

jyeshtha means “eldest” & is ruled by indra, who was an eldest, an elder in terms of the gods, as he was their king. this asterism brings the lesson that being an elder entails responsibility. if you, like me, are the eldest of your siblings, your parents probably offloaded some caretaking of them & some authority over them, & hopefully you didn’t use that power, as indra was want to do in puranic times, to fulfill your own ego desires. like, you made breakfast for your little brother on saturday morning so your parents could sleep in or read to him rather than making him clean up your room? how can you exert your authority today without lording it over anyone, without abusing your power?

it’s the eleventh lunar day, the eleventh phase of the waning moon, which supports spiritual practices like fasting & meditation.

“meditation is not to escape from society but to come back to ourselves & see what is going on. once there is seeing, there must be acting. with mindfulness we know what to do & what not to do to help.”—thich nhat hanh

may there be seeing & helping today!

friday is ruled by venus, who just wants us to be happy. happiness is a feeling, but it’s also a thought, b/c we name the feeling, say, “i’m happy” or, “i’m feeling happy.” the brain doesn’t know the difference between the external & the internal. for example, i once had a friend who was bedridden & so did asana in her head, thought about doing it, & it produced the same results as if she had been on her mat in her body. so, if you want to feel happy, think happy, envision happiness. as abraham hicks said, “find something that makes you happy & think about it a lot.”

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
