it’s wednesday, january 29, & moon is in gemini, moving from the starspace called ardra into punarvasu late morning mountain time. in vedic astrology, gemini is represented not by twins, as it is in the tropical/western system, but by a man & a woman, the divine masculine & the divine feminine, god & goddess, yin & yang, the nonbinary, all-inclusive, if you will. gemini symbolizes our wholeness, our multifaceted essence, & thus our ability to be unbiased, to see from both, any & all perspectives.
after the storms brought on by ardra (see yesterday’s post for more), punarvasu fulfills the promise that the sun will come out again, that it’s always darkest before the dawn, that that too will pass, for punarvasu means “the return” (punar) “of the light” (vasu). the vasus are the luminous gods whose mother was aditi, the universal mother, whose name means “boundless,” boundless like the space, the matrix, the womb in which all life is born & thrives. this asterism brings a lesson about our infinite ability to create when we align with the light, with our light. it reminds us of the cyclical nature of life, that rebirth follows death, day follows night, that a new day always dawns.
it’s the first lunar day, the first phase of the waxing moon, so we may still be feeling into what we want to create/build in the cycle that just began. with saturn, jupiter, mars, & venus already in their signs of strength & mercury moving into his on friday, the cosmos powerfully has our back. this is an auspicious opportunity to use our discriminating intelligence (mercury) to unpack what we are committed to (saturn), what we believe in & what inspires us (jupiter), what we are willing to fight for & take positive action steps toward (mars), how we can deepen our connection to beauty & love (venus) & write a new story (mercury) with all those reflections & insights.
wednesday is owned by mercury, who is the part of us that both writes our stories & sees through them, is both creative & discriminating. “the universe is made of stories, not atoms,” said muriel rukeyser. today couldn’t be a better day to start creating, or recreating, the world, the universe, we want to live in.
