it’s thursday, january 5, & moon is in gemini, who is still in the starspace called mrigashira until about 9 a.m. mountain time & then moves into ardra. gemini vibrates with the frequency of curiosity, of wanting to learn new things, go new places, explore new territory, with the mind &/or body, & do so with playfulness & discriminating intelligence. under the sway of gemini, it’s not enough to explore, we want to share what we have uncovered, for gemini is ruled by mercury, the ur communicator, & gemini is an air sign. it is through air that sound/vibration is carried, transported, transmitted. words, like everything else, are sound/vibration, whether they’re expressed vocally or on a page/screen.
mrigashira (see yesterday’s post for more) brings a gentle quality to the mind, ardra a sharp & harsh one. ardra is ruled by rudra, the stormy aspect of shiva. shiva, in the pantheon of brahma-vishnu-shiva (as one friend describes them, generator-operator-destroyer, aka god!), is the agent of transformation, whose mantra might be “no pain, no gain.” perhaps our seeking yesterday wrought frustration or confrontation—we get to be with that pain if we want to transform it, reap the gain. ardra reminds us that it’s ok, fine to cry, shed some tears, that the world will look brighter after we wipe them away, that the sun always shines again after it rains.
it’s the fourteenth lunar day, the fourteenth phase of the waxing moon, which means we’ve got a full moon on the horizon & may be feeling full to bursting with emotions. it is the most intense of the tithis (moon phases) &, with the potential for our emotions to get the better of us, it is best to keep things simple & do our spiritual practices, lest any irritation or frustration erupts in a burst of anger. as this lunar cycle began two weeks ago in the starspace called mula, inviting us to get to the root of our beliefs, & the full moon tomorrow is in the starspace called punarvasu, which means “return of the light,” we might just meditate on how our beliefs can become the light of hope & renewal.
thursday is owned by jupiter, planet of hope & abundance, among other things. given tomorrow’s expansive full moon, which brings new possibilities, i invite you to feel into your hopefulness & abundance, the infinite possibility of who you be.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
