it’s friday, january 6, & moon is in gemini, in the starspace called ardra (see yesterday’s post) this morning & in punarvasu after, where the moon will be full as full. the full moon is the halfway point in the lunar month, which began two weeks ago with the new moon in sagittarius. sagittarius is the environment of faith, believing in something. our beliefs are based on what we have been told and what we personally hold as true—they don’t need to be supported with factual evidence for them to exist and powerfully hold sway over us. thank goddess for the reflective quality of moon in gemini, where we have the discriminating intelligence to question & untangle our beliefs. it’s time to harmonize faith & discernment, which together are stronger than each by itself.
punarvasu, whose name means “return of the light,” is known as the star of prosperity & is ruled by aditi, whose name means “boundless.” she is the mother, the womb, of the universe, the matrix from which everything is born. the lesson of this asterism is that, just like the moon, who only appears to be less than whole while waxing & waning, we are always whole, abundant, full of light. it is only from abundance that we can manifest abundantly.
om purnam adah purnam idam purnat purnam udachyate / purnasya purnam adaya purnam evavashishyate
“that is whole. this is whole. from the whole the whole becomes manifest. from the whole when the whole is negated, what remains is again the whole.”—from the yajur veda
our moon work for the waning lunar cycle starts with knowing that we are the matrix of infinite potential, that with both faith & intelligence 100 percent is possible 100 percent of the time.
if you want a little assistance, you might join jai guru dev’s prosperity meditation today (or catch the replay) or recite tosha silver‘s “change me” prayer (pictured), which i do every day (hey, i need all the reinforcement i can get!), altho, with all due respect to tosha, i say “allow me to fully love … ” rather than “change me into one who can … ,” b/c as the full moon & yoga philosophy teach us, we are already all that—our work is simply to remember that in every moment.
what needs to go so you can remember that?
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
