it’s monday, january 9, & moon is in cancer, in the starspace called ashlesha. cancer vibrates with the frequency of the divine feminine, of unconditional love. under the sway of cancer we want to love on everyone, give as much as we’ve got, as much as others need, we want to hold everyone in our maternal embrace like the web of life. watery moon, who rules watery cancer, wants to be in the flow of love, the love that connects one & all, wants to be the connector. which is gorgeous, but/&, let’s face it, while everyone is worthy of love, not everyone is worthy of our love in an individual, personal way, especially if loving on them depletes us. cancer’s blind spot can be discriminating intelligence. selfless cancer needs to be reminded that self-care is the best way to care for others, that if we aren’t nourished, we won’t be able to nourish others.
ashlesha means “entwining,” “clinging,” “embracing” & is ruled by the nagas, the entire celestial kingdom of serpents. people are generally afraid of snakes, who silently sneak & slither & strike with no warning, killing upward of 100,000 people a year globally. & yet serpent energy is associated with protection & leadership & esoteric knowledge. the word “naga” can be broken down into “na” = not + “ga” = going, implying that snakes can go where other beings can’t, like into the crevices of our psyches, to extract wisdom from what appears to be hidden. this asterism invites us to pay attention to what or whom we are attached to, clinging to, & to call on the protective quality of the nagas to get smart about attachments that are venomous—selfish or manipulative—not loving, that don’t nourish our highest beingness.
it’s the third lunar day, the third phase of the waning moon, which supports us in being flexible, switching gears if need be, & giving others who may be affected a heads-up if it’s appropriate.
monday, like cancer, is ruled by the moon, whose reason for being is to connect with one & all. given all the cosmic energy at play today, it’s a triple-good day to triple-down on making sure our connections are in service to what’s loving for us, which is always loving for others—even if they don’t realize it in the moment.
