it’s tuesday, january 9, & moon moves from scorpio into sagittarius at about 8:30 a.m. mountain time, all by its lonesome—that is, without a starry net to support it, jumping over the border between the starspace called jyeshtha & the starspace called mula, which is also the border between scorpio & sag. so do mind the gap this morning, do give yourself the space to land, after scorpio time, to let sag’s bigger-picture perspective neutralize your emotional turmoil by making meaning out of it. &, hey, if scorpio was a nothing burger, more power to you!
jyeshtha means “eldest” & is ruled by indra, the king/leader/elder of the gods; mula means “root” & is ruled by niritti, the most badass form of badass kali. jyeshtha gives us the ability to overcome all obstacles so we can be the best we can be, be true elders, lead by example, mula to get to the root of our afflictions & yank them out by their roots, destroy what doesn’t serve. & fyi: sometimes goddess sarvamangala (see more below) blesses us by giving us unpleasant experiences so we have the opportunity to rise to challenge of destroying them. go figure!
it’s the thirteenth lunar day (tithi), the thirteenth phase of the waning moon, which is ruled by the goddess sarvamangala, whose name means “all-auspicious one.” this tithi removes all shortcomings & increases all auspiciousness, has the potential to accelerate material & spiritual progress—woo-hoo! the last three tithis (we have a new moon on thursday) support a more awakened state of consciousness, the state known as turiya. “on the thirteenth lunar day,” wrote swami sivananda, “nature assists the worshipper in waking up from his mental deep sleep & in becoming more aware of the fourth state, (turiya).” may the force of this tithi be with you today!
tuesday is ruled by mars, so it’s a good day to do battle (i mean, mula, so come on!) with our spiritual obstacles.
bonus trak: the thirteenth tithi occurring on a tuesday & in mula is especially powerful (praise the goddess!), b/c jupiter is the planetary ruler of this tithi & mars, the planetary ruler of tuesday, gives jupiter a kick in the pants, or, um, lights a fire under him, when he gets too philosophical, mulls & mulls & mulls rather than acts on his wisdom, & mula def wants us to act, to do something.
