it’s thursday, july 13, & moon is in taurus, in the starspace called krittika until 9:30-ish mountain time, then rohini. while aries vibrates with the frequency of achieving & accomplishing, taurus vibrates with the frequency of just being, & of being happy in our beingness. “happiness is not: getting everything you want or controlling the things around you,” wrote yung pueblo. “happiness is: the freedom that comes when you stop constantly craving for more & when you can embrace change without fear.” taurus is a fixed sign, meaning that under its sway we wanna keep things just the way they are, control our environment, & it’s also very material, hewing us toward seeking our happiness in the form of external pleasures, like food & sex & art & nature. nothing wrong with all that as long as we can not neeeeeed it, not depend on it, as long as we can just enjoy & let it go. i know!

rohini (see yesterday’s post for krittika) is the moon’s fave place to hang out. it is ruled by prajapati, the creator of all that is, including all the asterisms. once he created them, he fell in love with this one, which made the other ones crazy with jealousy. while this asterism does give us the power of fertility & creativity, it also brings a lesson about not getting too attached (!) to what we create & to beware others who might be envious of our shakti.

it’s the twelfth lunar day, the twelfth phase of the waning moon, which is ruled by the sun & supports us in connecting to our inner sun, our guiding light, & making sure it is guiding us in the right direction.

thursday is ruled by jupiter, whose sanskrit name is guru, the one who brings wisdom, shines a light on the darkness of our ignorance—not stupidity, but ignorance, as in not knowing what’s real & what’s not, as in not understanding the true nature of reality. “guru” means “heavy” or “weighted” & refers to a person who has weight, who has done the heavy lifting of practices to gain wisdom & is thus able to remove the weight of our ignorance. but, manorama, who is responsible for my falling in love with sanskrit, points out that “guru is not a person, it’s a force.” today is a great good day to let the force be with you!

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a sort of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss.
