it’s monday, july 13, & moon is in aries, in the starspace called ashwini, & so we begin again, as aries is the first sign of the zodiac & ashwini the first asterism. aries can make us feel like we’re on the starting line at a track meet when the gun goes off—we just want to charge ahead, rack up a personal best. life isn’t a track meet—we need to keep our eyes on the near distance & the far simultaneously.
ashwini is represented by a horse’s head. horses are metaphors for our uncontrollable desires, our inability to tame our senses. in vedic times there was a ritual called the ashvamedha in which a horse (specifically, a white stallion with black spots), accompanied by the king’s warriors, would be released to wander for a year. wherever the horse went, the king’s rivals could challenge his authority by trying to capture or kill the horse. if, when the year was up, no enemy had managed to do so, the animal would be returned to the king, whence it would be sacrificed (i know! but this is just a metaphor!) and the king declared an undisputed sovereign. are you the undisputed sovereign of your senses or is it the other way around?
it’s the ninth lunar day, which brings serpent energy. serpents are delivery systems for toxins, but they are also symbols of wisdom, of the wisdom hidden in our darkest nooks & crannies. beware of getting caught up in toxic emotional energy today; rather see what insights are lurking in the depths of your shadow.
monday is the moon’s day. the moon is our deep feeling nature, our heart connection to the world. how can you tap into your well of love today to nourish those in your life? or maybe yourself? i think it’s safe to say that we can all use a little more love & compassion these days however we can get it. feel into your tenderness & see where it guides you. be gentle with yourself & others.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. the moon is our consciousness & i hope that by unpacking the cosmic forces influencing it every day, you’ll be better able to understand & thus lean into its ever-changing vibrations & use them to your advantage.
