it’s friday, july 16, & moon is in virgo, in the starspace called hasta. virgo is the perfectionist of the zodiac & the ur organizer, likes everything neat ‘n’ tidy, alphabetized, everything to have a proper place & be in its proper place (& that thing & place will probably be labeled!). that energy is def useful, but it’s not useful when we get too perfection-obsessed. life is ultimately more messy than manicured. sorry, virgos!
hasta means “hand,” the part of our body that manipulates & manifests, grasps & offers, & is ruled by savitur, the sun, who wakes us up every day so we can do just that. the rg veda says savitur “rises in the east, spreading rays of eternal light by which we can nourish our desires.” the lesson of hasta is that the sun makes all possible, that we are the vessel not the doer. so we can start our day by asking god, in the form of the sun, “what would you have me do?”
it’s the seventh lunar day, the seventh phase of the waxing moon, which is connected to lord indra, who ruled all the gods. it’s a good day to feel into your autonomy, roam your realm, enjoy the expanse of your domain.
friday is ruled by venus, who is our ability to experience pleasure, especially, but not necessarily, if we can share that experience with others. venus wants us to share the love—what we love with the ones we love. that said, venus is in the process of moving from cancer into leo today. remember what i said yesterday about sun moving signs, from gemini into cancer? well, the venus transition is a little dicier b/c cancer is a water sign & leo a fire sign & the border between water & fire signs is, you might say, an abyss—there is no starry bridge for planets to “walk” across. which means they feel unsupported & thus the area of our life embodied by that planet is unsupported. in the case of venus, our relationships. try to keep a level head, or, um, heart, when it comes to friends & lovers, take a timeout if necessary so you don’t make a decision you’ll regret, one sourced in out-of-control emotions.
