it’s monday, july 22, & moon is floating in the starspace called uttarabhadra, in the cosmic waters of pisces, where we connect to that which is beyond all this through the heart, through our feeling “mind” rather than our thinking “mind.” in traditional chinese medicine, the mind is seen as seated in the heart. & in sanskrit the word hrdayam (हृदयम्) means “heart, soul, mind.” it seems that the east understands better than the west how we really know what’s true, that we feel it, that we can’t muscle the truth with the gray matter in our heads, that our essence is love.
the presiding deity of uttarabhadra is ahir budhnya, the deep ocean snake who represents our merging with the sea of eternity, the sea of consciousness, into all that is. & what is all that is? love. love is our essential nature. it’s our source & the manifestation of source. our practices are meant to allow us to realize that & to live it, to express it with every breath, with every word & thought & action. love flows like water & we are 60 percent water. love is what we are made of. you might say that we are in our element when we are swimming in those depths.

it’s the sixth phase of the waning moon, which is a good day to acknowledge your accomplishments rather than all that remains undone, to feel into abundance rather than lack. & with jupiter aspecting the moon today (giving it his gaze, sending it his light), we should feel bigger, more hopeful.
