daily blissit’s wednesday, july 24, & moon is in the starspace called ashwini, which is the first nakshatra of aries, the first constellation of the zodiac, which means a new start on our journey toward wholeness. aries is fiery, a doer, invites us to express our individuality, to strike out on our own—we just have to be patient (not necessarily an aries trait!) & make sure we don’t step on anyone else’s toes in the process.

the symbol of ashwini is the horse’s head. horses represent our desires & our ability to control them, to rein them in. when our desires control us, when they run amok like wild stallions (note: i do think horses horses should run free, that they are not on this planet to be tamed by us!), we are at their mercy & who knows where they are going to lead us? astray? ya think? the puranic tales about horse sacrifices are meant to be taken metaphorically (rather than, eeegads, i hope, prescriptively!): they symbolize our ability to sacrifice our desires, our mastery over them. not that desires are bad—to desire is human—just that in order to eventually complete our journey into wholeness, we need to be the ones deciding, for example, when & how much chocolate-caramel coconut bliss we eat, rather than that pint holding sway over us, calling out to us from the freezer until we finally but inevitably give in & overindulge. i mean, check out the come-hither look in the eyes of the gorgeous beastie below—try not to be seduced by that!

it’s the eighth phase of the waning moon, which has to do with creativity & how we bring value to our lives. what matters to you? how do you feel valued & create value?

& that’s your daily bliss—mercury rules wednesday, so it’s a great good day for communicating clearly & indulging your intellectual curiosity.
