it’s wednesday, july 28, & moon is in pisces, in the starspace called uttarabhadra. the environment of pisces is the cosmic ocean, the ocean of love, where all of us individual drops of water become one, merge. ideally, we want to escape into the ocean, into ultimate reality, not escape from our relative reality. in her memoir, rememberings, sinéad o’connor writes about how she used music to escape from reality, b/c reality was just too damn painful. music, just like drugs or sex or dancing, can be used to escape from or to escape into. it’s good to notice what we’re using what for.
uttarabhadra is the counterpart to yesterday’s purvabhadra & furthers the lesson of the auspicious (bhadra) steps we take along our path to transcendence. but while purva is ruled by aja ekapada, a fire dragon, uttara is ruled by ahirbudhnya, a water dragon. altho both dragons bring destruction (something always has to go if we are going to move forward), our going will feel easier today as we are bathed in the soothing waters of the cosmic ocean.
it’s the fifth lunar day, the fifth phase of the waning moon, which is related to the moon—maternal, healing, nurturing energy. it’s a good day to heal thyself or another, to soothe thyself or another.
wednesday is ruled by mercury, who gives us our powers of discriminating intelligence & communication & just moved into cancer for a brief stay. cancer is all heart, mercury all head. as we know, trying to use our brain to unpack, get clarity around, our emotions can just keep us walking in mental circles, can make us feel like we’re lost in a word maze. it’s like using a greek dictionary to translate a french novel—words & feelings are like oil & water. (is that enough mixing of metaphors for you?) we can, however, use our heads to get to the root of our emotional issues, the source of why we emote the way we do, perhaps by, say, studying the enneagram, which i think is an awesome tool for self-understanding, & my friend mike cohen just happens to have an enneagram course geared toward yogis, which means anyone interested in leading a more conscious, connected life.
& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. it is my hope that the daily bliss can help you align with the day’s cosmic energy & find a little more bliss; that it inspires you to enlighten up a little more each day.
