it’s thursday, july 28, & we have a new moon in cancer, in the starspace called pushya. cancer, the sign of the divine feminine, is watery, feminine, sattvic & ruled by the moon. under its sway we are heart-centered & connect to unconditional love (the divine feminine) through our feeling/emotional (watery) nature; by reflecting (feminine) rather than acting (masculine); hewing toward a state of purity & wisdom (sattva), of blissful equilibrium, rather than inertia (tamas) or overstimulation (rajas); & we desire peaceful communion with one & all (moon).

pushya, whose deity is brihaspati (the priest) & is symbolized by a cow’s udder, brings a lesson about nourishment & devotion, about unconditionally nurturing, like any mama does their baby, with the best interests of their child at heart. & let’s bear in mind that if a mama doesn’t take care of herself, doesn’t eat well & exercise & get rest, she won’t be able to do her job well.

so our moon work for the waxing cycle is to make sure we are nourished so we can nourish others, to love ourselves unconditionally so we can pour love selflessly onto those we love. this does not mean indulging in self-love for its own sake, but with a sense that it will allow us to show up fully in devotion to others. we also get to reflect on how we are nourishing ourselves & others: with healthy food? books & other media that uplifts? wisdom founded in authentic sources?

that may all sound simple, but we’ve got some intense transits, which may complicate matters:
• mercury conjunct moon in cancer, making us prone to be oversensitive to what others say to us
• mars & rahu in aries provoking us to get hot & bothered
• jupiter going retrograde (until later november) asking us what we really believe
• saturn retrograde demanding we balance work & life, the time & energy we expend on ourselves & others
• ketu in libra, sign of relationships, asking us to make sure our partnerships have a higher purpose

yikes! it’s a lot! so let’s double- or triple- or quadruple-down on our heart-centeredness, on trusting that love is always the answer—love for ourselves & others. one way to do that is to set an intention powerfully on the new moon, which you can do by creating a sigil, a sacred seal, the how-to of which i shared in yesterday’s post.

& that’s your daily bliss! which is a kind of lunar weather report. may it allow you to align with the day’s cosmic energy so you can find & create a little more bliss. may it inspire you to enlighten up a little more each day.
